Dickey Chapelle: Breaking Barriers of Gender Equity

Thesis

Dickey Chapelle faced barriers when attempting to work as a war correspondent, not because of the wars she covered, but because of America's sexist culture. She broke through those barriers and has influenced a generation of reporters. In fact, her tragic death while covering the Vietnam War made her the first women to die in the line of duty.

This is Dickey's favorite picture of herself. This was taken in Milwaukee in 1958.
